Heather invited me to develop a guest blog post and I jumped at the chance to share and hopefully make you into a travelust. Since it’s the month of love, I wanted to share some of my favorite Caribbean islands to consider for your honeymoon.

St. Thomas

St. Thomas is a great destination for those who haven’t ventured off to the Caribbean. St. Thomas is one of the three islands that make up the U.S. Virgin Islands. The other two islands are St. John and St. Croix. Since St. Thomas is a U.S. territory, you don’t need a passport to visit. The beaches are incredible and many of them have been consistently included on the list of best beaches in the world. You can visit the other two islands easily by catching a boat ferry from either the Red Hook or Charlotte Amalie ports. Pro Tip: The ride to St. John is shorter and more frequent from the Red Hook port. It takes about 25 minutes versus 45 minutes. Some hotels sustained substantial damages during Hurricane Maria so that has reduced some of the accommodations on the island. I would recommend staying at Margaritaville, Marriott's Frenchman’s Cove, or the Ritz Carlton St. Thomas. Check out my St. Thomas travel guide for more info.

Turks and Caicos

Turks and Caicos is a great option for a honeymoon or romantic getaway. The island is located just east of Cuba and Hispaniola (Haiti and Dominican Republic) and is known for its beautiful clear blue waters. Clear waters mean lots of opportunity for snorkeling and lounging on one of the many beautiful beaches on the island. The island is home to only 30,000 residents which makes for an intimate experience on the island. Some of the romantic lodging options are Grace Bay Resorts, COMO Parrot Cay, Tuscany Resort, and Alexandra Resort.

Grenada

Grenada is one of my favorite Caribbean islands. Not to be confused with Granada, Spain. Grenada is affectionately known as the “Spice Island” due to its cultivation of various spices including nutmeg and cinnamon. One of the benefits of the island is that it is not as crowded as other Caribbean islands. Less crowds make the island more romantic and exclusive. There are several romantic all-inclusive resorts to consider including Sandals, Spice Island Beach Resort, and the newly opened Silversands Grenada. I’ve visited Grenada several times and created a list of 5 things to do in Grenada that you might find helpful.

St. Lucia

St. Lucia is located in the eastern Caribbean and is known as the Hawaii of the region. There is so much to do on the island and many beautiful lodging options. If you’re into nature or outdoor activities, St. Lucia does not disappoint. St. Lucia has beautiful waterfalls to explore. There is the option to hike the Grois or Petit Piton. There are also tons of options for scuba diving or snorkeling if that’s your thing. Some of the most romantic resorts on the island are Sandals St. Lucian, Serenity Coconut Bay, Jade Mountain Resort, and Ladera Resort.

Ambergris Caye

Ambergris Caye (sometimes referred to as San Pedro) is an island off the coast of Belize. Belize is technically a part of Central America but is widely considered as a part of the Caribbean given its proximity to Caribbean islands and the influence of individuals who have migrated to Belize from Caribbean islands for economic opportunities. Getting to Ambergris Caye is easy. You fly into the Belize City airport then either take a small flight for the 15 minute flight or an hour and a half water taxi to the island. This island is super cute and its cuteness factor is evident by the fact that there are more golf carts on the island than cars. Golf carts are the main mode of transportation. There is something for everyone on Ambergris Caye. You can lay on the beach, enjoy night life, devour delicious food, or explore the history of the region. There are very few all-inclusive resorts on the island. Matachica Resort & Spa and Las Terrazas Resort are the two that I recommend. You can find more information on my Ambergris Caye Travel Guide on my website.
