A Wedding Planner's Wedding: Laura
Our team thought it would be fun to share some memories from our own weddings as we kick off 2021. We hope you enjoy this series.
Laura and Jamey - Memorial Presbyterian Church
and Timuquana Country Club
My husband, Jamey, and I were married in the historic Memorial Presbyterian Church in St. Augustine, FL. Our reception followed in Jacksonville, FL at Timuquana Country Club. We chose the church because when I was in college at Flagler, I attended Memorial Presbyterian so it had a significant meaning to me, as well as I just loved everything about the church!
If I had to describe our wedding, I would say it was traditional and pretty formal yet very personable. Our ceremony was very formal and traditional complete with readings from two of our close friends, a unity candle, and communion for the entire congregation. Our reception was a plated dinner filled with lots of dancing and a ribbon wand and golf cart send off! The day was everything I hoped and dreamed it would be because even though it rained during our reception, at the end of the day I married the love of my life and that was what mattered most.
I have a couple of favorite memories from our wedding day. The first would have to be when we finished taking pictures after the ceremony and got to the car, Jamey's Best Man and our dear friend (who was driving us from the church to the reception) surprised us and put "Just Married" in hot pink duct tape on the back window. The other favorite memory was our golf cart send-off, our bridal party had decorated it as well as tied a bunch of beer and soda cans to the back of the golf cart.
Looking back at our wedding day, of course, there are things I wished I would have done or things I would have done differently, but if I'm being honest, I wouldn't change a thing because it was the best day of my life. But, with that being said, if I had to have done something differently, I think I would have taken more pictures at our reception site and would have joined our cocktail hour because the day went by so quickly and I wish we could have enjoyed it just a little bit more.
